Choosing speakers or headphones

Compare size, controls, charging connection, and stated battery life. For meetings, check microphone availability; for headphones, consider comfort during wear. Water resistance, dust protection, and noise cancellation must be confirmed for the particular model.

For work headphones, test a call in a setting similar to normal use. Leisure gifts may prioritize portability and a case. Consider whether a speaker stays on a desk or travels in a bag. Straightforward pairing matters, especially when recipients aren't comfortable setting up unfamiliar devices.

Speakers for leisure or headphones for work?

Choose a speaker around the listening situation: a small desktop device and a portable speaker for a group may call for different designs. Alongside wattage, consider clarity, convenient controls, and size. A listening sample better indicates whether the result meets expectations for the gift.

For headphones, consider how long they will be worn at a time. Over-ear and in-ear models feel different. For online meetings, microphone performance matters as much as music: assess how clearly the other person hears the user. Listening noise cancellation and microphone background-noise reduction are different functions.

Match listening style to the recipient’s activity.

Compare controls and ease of pairing.

Account for charging and carrying.

Try sound at a normal listening volume.

An audio device in an employee welcome kit should suit the computer or phone already in use. If you need to switch between devices, check the model’s connection options. For travel gifts, a case can keep the device and charging cable together. Size the packaging for the complete contents, not only the speaker or headphones.

Branding speakers and headphones

Use a branding area that leaves speaker grilles, microphones, and controls clear. Packaging may be appropriate when the device offers little free surface.

A branded speaker can display the company logo on a desk even while idle. Headphones may allow decoration on their housing or charging case, depending on the model. Keep small-surface designs clear and simple. Assess textile, plastic, and metal branding options against the selected product.
