Choosing lanyards and event badges

Compare strap width, clip type, breakaway options, and badge-holder dimensions. Two attachment points hold a card differently from a single central clip. Allow sufficient space for the person’s name, organization, and role instead of prioritizing a large event logo.

Names should be readable at conversation distance. Long job titles and multiple logos can crowd badges. For international events, decide the language of names and roles early. A proof print helps assess whether the card hangs correctly and whether the lanyard width suits the attachment and overall badge size.

Bringing the lanyard, badge and holder together

Start the badge design with the information another participant needs to see quickly. Usually this means the name and organization, while staff, speakers and visitors may need distinct role labels or colors. Where suitable, the reverse can carry a program or other detailed information.

When selecting a holder, distinguish its outside dimensions from the card size it accepts. An oversized holder may let the insert move around, while a small one can bend the card. Check that the holes and fastening also match the lanyard clip.

Choose portrait or landscape orientation.

Confirm the usable internal dimensions of the holder.

Decide between one and two attachment points.

Specify any breakaway or detachable-clip requirements.

Two attachment points may help keep a badge facing forwards. A scannable code must remain clear of folds, opaque edges, and fastenings. A sample assembly helps you assess the final result before printing personalized badges.

Lanyard printing and personalised badges

Lanyard printing and badge artwork require separate file dimensions. Check double-sided printing, pattern repeats, and whether the logo faces the right way when worn.

Printing both sides of a lanyard can help maintain logo visibility when it twists during wear. On the badge, use a readable type size for the person's name and leave space around the logo. For personalized production, separate names, organizations, and roles into individual data columns so longer entries can be handled consistently.

Event badges and holders to compare

Explore the A6 badge with soft lamination, 11.2 × 17.4 cm badge holder and 6.5 × 10.6 cm badge holder. A badge and a holder are separate products: these dimensions should not automatically be treated as a matching set. Confirm the lanyard, insert, and holder together, including which components are supplied.
